Twitter is a really great tool to tempt people to come and check out your . But be careful, its not at all about the number of twitter followers you get, its about the quality of twitter followers you get.

Getting traffic directed to your is a real challenge and takes some hard ! “If you write it, they will come,” simply does not apply. Sites like www.twellow.com publish categorized directories of people on twitter. Register at twellow and browse through the reams of groups and select some people that you would like to follow, and that you would like to have follow you. But don’t just randomly follow people who already have thousands of followers, that’s pointless. The rate at which tweets appear on their monitors is so fast that they are extremely unlikely to ever encounter your lonely article plug, let alone click on the link that you recommend. They will follow you back of course, but that’s because they run apps that will automatically return your follow; somewhat impersonal wouldn’t you think? Only follow people with a reasonable number of followers actually interesting to you. If you want people to check out your profile, and then your article, they need to have similar interests. Why follow a person who’s into body piercings and tattoos when you about fishing!

If you use Wordpress to publish your , adding the twitter tools plugin is a great way to get your articles noticed on twitter. This plugin automatically tweets to twitter when you publish an article.

I have 2,513 followers as of this date and I’m following 2500.  This has taken over a year to accomplish, and judging by the thoughtful, insightful, and interesting tweets I see flowing across my monitors, I feel that I am involved with quite an interesting group of people.

So, again don’t just try to get thousands of random twitter followers just so you can say that you have thousands of twitter followers; it won’t do you much good. Just build a valuable following of people with similar interests and you will meet with much greater in driving traffic to your .
